Columbia University Need-Based Financial Aid for International Students

Verified·Official source checked
Columbia University🇺🇸 United StatesDeadline: Deadline not published

Columbia is committed to meeting 100% of the demonstrated need of all admitted first-year students, regardless of citizenship. International students apply for and receive a substantial amount of aid every year ($21 million awarded); for admitted international students Columbia meets 100% of demonstrated need with a Columbia grant (no repayment) and a work-study job — never loans, and all international aid comes from institutional resources since internationals are ineligible for federal aid. International applicants must indicate their plan to apply for aid when submitting the admission application; if admitted without requesting aid, they may not change status later. All financial aid at Columbia is need-based — there are no merit scholarships.
