Fully Funded Scholarships for Pakistani Students 2026

Pakistan is on the eligibility list for most of the large international scholarship programmes, so the awards that actually fund Pakistani students rarely mention Pakistan in their names. Of the 3,482 records in this catalogue at the time of writing (October 2026), 26 name Pakistan in their eligibility list. Nearly all the rest are open to any nationality. Both kinds are worth applying to, and they work in opposite ways.

Awards that name countries narrow the field for you. The CSC Silk Road programme is the clearest case in our data: individual Chinese universities publish their own list of eligible countries, and a dozen of them include Pakistan. You apply to the university rather than to a central body, and that university's list decides whether your application is read at all.

Awards that ask for a nomination add a gate before the application. Commonwealth Scholarships, MEXT through its embassy route and Stipendium Hungaricum all require a body in your country to put your file forward, and none of them accepts a direct application from a candidate. If nobody nominates you, a strong file goes nowhere.

Awards open to every nationality are decided on your record alone. DAAD, Erasmus Mundus and most university funds run no Pakistani quota, so grades, research fit and language evidence carry the decision. These are the largest pool by far, and the ones most often missed by applicants who search only for their own country.

Chevening funds a one-year master's at any UK university: full tuition, a monthly living stipend, a return flight, visa fees and small grants for research or hardship. Two rules catch people out. It asks for at least two years of work experience, around 2,800 hours, and it asks you to apply to three UK courses, one of which must become an unconditional offer before the award is confirmed. You also commit to returning to Pakistan for two years after the award ends. Applications open in early August and close in early October.

Commonwealth Scholarships cover master's, PhD and split-site study in the UK for students from low- and middle-income Commonwealth countries. The application goes to CSC Central and, in parallel, to a nominating body in Pakistan; the CSC rejects direct applications.

Australia Awards cover full tuition, return airfare and a living allowance for study in Australia. Eligibility is set by the country programme rather than by one global list, so the profile published for Pakistan by the Australian High Commission is the version that governs your application.

DAAD is not a single scholarship. It administers hundreds of programmes, including the EPOS awards for development-related postgraduate courses, which expect roughly two years of professional experience. There is no single form to fill, so the practical route is to find the programme that matches your subject and level in the DAAD database and work backwards to its closing date.

MEXT funds undergraduate and research-level study in Japan through an embassy recommendation in Islamabad or a university recommendation, and which route you may use depends on your nationality and the university. Stipendium Hungaricum funds bachelor's, master's, doctoral and non-degree study in Hungary, and requires both the online application and a nomination from the sending partner in Pakistan.

The documents are similar across all of them: degree certificates and transcripts, two references, a passport, a study plan or motivation letter, and English evidence. Government programmes also ask what you will do at home afterwards, and the strongest applications answer that with something specific rather than a promise to contribute to national development.

Two warnings worth taking seriously. An agent who guarantees a scholarship is selling something that does not exist, because the selection committee sits inside the university or the ministry, not inside the agency. And a deadline copied onto an aggregator site can be a year out of date, which is why every record here links to the provider's own page and shows a verification date where one has been recorded.

If you are starting this week, pick one programme from the list above, read its eligibility page on the provider's own site, and work backwards from the closing date to the documents you still need.
