MBA Scholarships for International Students 2026

MBA tuition is high, but most top business schools fund international students through merit scholarships and named awards. The key is applying early and targeting the awards that match your profile.

1. London Business School Scholarships. LBS runs dedicated awards including the Women's Scholarships, with others tied to merit, geography and background.

2. INSEAD Syngenta Endowed Scholarship for Emerging Country Leadership. A named award for MBA students from emerging countries who show leadership potential.

3. IESE Women in Management Scholarship. Funds women MBA candidates at IESE in Spain, alongside the school's other merit awards.

4. Bocconi Graduate Merit Awards. Merit-based tuition support for international graduate and MBA students at Bocconi in Italy.

5. IE Business School Scholarships. IE in Madrid offers a range of merit and need-based scholarships for international MBA applicants.

6. Esade SUD Scholarships and MSc Excellence Awards. Esade in Barcelona funds international students through merit awards and dedicated diversity scholarships.

7. Hult Scholar Grant. A merit grant at Hult International Business School, which has campuses in London, Boston, San Francisco and Dubai.

8. Edinburgh Business School MBA Scholarship. A tuition award for MBA students at Edinburgh's business school.

Merit awards are decided as part of your admission review, so a strong GMAT, clear career goals and good essays matter more than a separate application. Named scholarships often have their own essay. Apply in the first admission round for the best chance at funding.

MBA funding is different from other postgraduate funding in one important way: most of it is merit-based and decided by the business school, not by a government. That means the scholarship application is usually part of the admission application, and the essays and the test score do double duty.

Schools run their own named awards, often aimed at specific groups: women in leadership, candidates from particular regions, entrepreneurs, or applicants with a strong record in a sector. These are listed on the school's funding page rather than in a central database, and each has its own eligibility line. Applying to three or four within the same school is normal.

Timing follows admission rounds rather than a single deadline. Applying in an early round improves the odds of funding, because scholarship budgets are allocated across rounds and the strongest candidates are admitted first. A late-round application competes for what is left.

Two practical points. Employer sponsorship and external foundation awards can be combined with school funding in some cases and not others, so ask before you plan around both. And a partial award that covers a third of tuition still leaves a substantial loan, so compare the total cost of the programme rather than the discount.
